And I also changed the spark plug wires and the engine light still ciomes on saying I am misfiring. I hear that I shoukld change the ignition block but if there was a probelm with that, would I not have problems with all cylinders?

You might have a bad ignition coil.Im not sure with a taurus but some fords have an ignition coil for each cylinder.
