Does my new spark plug need to be the same as my old spark plug?

When I was changing the spark plugs in my car and took out the first one and replaced it with the new one. But the new one had two prongs at the top, while the old one had only one. After changing one spark plug I started up the car and it worked just fine. It is alright?
Does my new spark plug need to be the same as my old spark plug?
YES!

As matter of fact the new one is better than old one , the two prongs at top means your gonna get better combustion of the fuel by more electronical ingiting of the fuel .
