Suggestion: Put NEW Spark PLUG Wires BEFORE OR After Changing Oil?

96 Accord LX, the Wires are leaking oil so would it be better to change the wires before or after an oil change?

The other posts are correct, there are seals that prevent oil from leaking into the spark plug holes, these are very common to need replacing in the older model accords, if you choose to replace this you will need a new valve cover gasket as well. When you have this done, its important to replace plugs and wires, there is also a distributor seal, that tends to leak as well.

As far as before or after oil change, it should not matter, I just did an oil change on a accord before giving it to another tech to do the exact same repair today. But check with your local honda dealership, there might an extented emissions warranty availible for your vehicle if you haven't already claimed it which would allow you to receive basically a free tune up(Plugs, wires, distributor) minus the gaskets. But this depends on the year and mileage of your vechicle.Hope that helps, gl

wires don't leak oil. but the spark plug tube seals do harden and shrink up and allow oil to flow past.

you need to change the spark plug tube seals, and change the wires anytime.
Ummmm, it is more likely the valve cover gasket is leaking, so replace that/those first, then wires before or after you change oil...
your valve cover is leaking where the wires go through to the plugs.so if i were you i would have it changed or change the valve cover gasket/s yourself.while your working on the you might as well change and or fix what you need to.
Wire don't leak oil ! Maybe you're seeing the grease that they put on the ends of the wires sometimes?

Either way, it doesn't matter which one you do first. Like the other guy said, you need to replace your spark plug tube seals, because that's what's allowing oil to get in there. They are the rubber fittings in the spark plug holes....where you screw in the plugs to the block.
Don't buy new wires!!! Get a can of chlorinated brake cleaner, and wash the plug wires down AFTER you have replaced the valve cover gasket and grommets. Unless you see a visible arcing out, the original wires will work just fine. If you Do buy new wires, get only genuine HONDA wires. Anything else is a rip-off. (I think they are made by the Yagazaki company.) Also, wash out your distributor cap since oil is in there too, probably. STOP using regular oil, and switch to synthetic oil, like Mobil One or ELF. It simply protects gaskets and seals better and lasts longer between changes and keeps expensive engine parts CLEAN as you drive. Also, try Nippondenso Twin TIp plugs with titanium for best power and mileage!
